Can you command the force of gravity?

A small white plastic block is displayed with a steel ball resting inside a hole in its top. The performer turns the block over, and the ball falls directly into a spectator’s hand.

This is repeated to demonstrate that everything works exactly as expected. The steel ball falls freely from the block each time.

On the third attempt, however, something impossible happens.

The block is turned completely upside down, but the steel ball refuses to fall. It remains mysteriously suspended inside the block, apparently defying gravity!

The performer concentrates and gives the ball a command. Instantly, the ball releases and drops into the spectator’s waiting hand.

There are no magnets and no extra gimmicks to palm or secretly dispose of. You perform the complete effect using only the specially made plastic block and steel ball. At the conclusion, both may be handed out for thorough examination.
