Smoking cigarettes isn't as popular as it once was and magicians have adapted to using other objects. For a new modern touch to this routine, a pencil, crayon, or other similar objects could be substituted for the cigarette. Read the ad copy as it was written by Jerry Mentzer in the Magic Methods catalog in the 1970s and use your imagination to come up with an object that you could substitute in your act.

This beautiful and deceptive sequence is the sort of quick effect many performers seek. It can be used as a separate trick or as a sequel from your existing cigarette routine into a series of tricks with silks. A cigarette CLEANLY vanishes and both palms are fairly shown! Then the cigarette is just as cleanly reproduced! You can repeat the vanish and reproduction if you wish. Then after lighting the cigarette, it is pushed into your fist and a beautiful silk handkerchief is pulled from the hand. No more signs of the cigarette! No pulls, no thumb tips, no difficult sleight-of-hand. The sequence of movement flows from one action to the next and the effect is not hard to do. Time tested props routined and applied in an unusual combination! Complete with everything you need except cigarettes and matches.
