The Razor's Edge

By Jerry Mentzer

The idea of a razor blade magically destroying a pack of playing cards is not new. Richard Himber included the plot with a device he sold called "Topper". Scotty York, years ago, published a similar effect that used an ordinary card case for the effect. Why should there be another version? Because "The Razor's Edge" is different, doesn't require a chrome-plated prop, and has certain advantages over other versions.

Here is what happens with "The Razor's Edge": After removing a pack of cards from the card case and shuffling it, the performer performs a puzzling "Ambitious Card" routine. Following this the pack is replaced in the card case and a razor blade is placed into the case along with the pack. Then the case is vigorously shaken a number of times. After shaking the card case is opened and its contents dumped onto the table. THE PACK HAS BEEN CUT TO PIECES EXCEPT FOR THE AMBITIOUS CARD!

In "The Razor's Edge" there is No switch required for either the card case or the deck of cards--No complicated sleight of hand nor mechanical devices to fail. Aside from the minimal card skill required for the "Ambitious Card" routine, the effect is self-working.

"The Razor's Edge" comes complete with written instructions and everything you need.

Skill Level: Medium. Suitable for adults only because of the Sharpe blade involved.
