Animal Hunter Trick

Here is a clever little mystery that is easy to do and fun to perform.

A disk is displayed showing seven different animals. A spectator is asked to merely think of any one of the animals. The performer turns the disk over so the animal pictures are out of sight, then taps the holes under the animals in a seemingly random order with the tip of a pencil.

The spectator secretly spells the name of their chosen animal, counting one letter for each tap. When they finish spelling the animal’s name, they call out “Stop!”

The performer turns the disk around — and the pencil point is directly under the spectator’s thought-of animal!

This is a great beginner mental magic effect because the plot is simple, the props are colorful, and the result is easy for the audience to understand. It is perfect for young magicians, pocket magic, party favors, beginner magic kits, classroom fun, and casual performances.
