Larry West presents Corner On The Market
by Larry West
Contains 27 routines some reprinted from his “Card Corner” column in "The Linking Ring" magazine and several previously unpublished.
Highly performable and interesting magic!
A collection of contributions to the Card Corner column of Linking Ring magazine. These packet and full deck tricks utilize mostly simple card sleights such as the Elmsley Count, Hindu Shuffle, Hamman Count, Double Lifts, and the Jordon Count, among others. A few are also explained in the text.
Contents Include:
- The No-Gimmick No-Palm Card to Any Wallet with a Double Climax: can be used with any wallet, or Emerson & West's "Pocket Secret-ary"
- Sequel: a deck of blank faced cards is shown. 2 cards are printed singly, then 2 at once, then the entire deck.
- Double Dealing: a two spectator counting revelation. Magician finds and tables Spectator A's card, then tried to find Spectator's B card. It turns out to be Spec A's card, and the tabled card is now Spec B's.
- Knife Kards: two cards are inserted into the deck and the cards between them are removed. A knife is inserted in the deck, and the value of the 2 cards selected equal the number of cards removed
- Over Sixed (based on Dan Garrett trick): 5 jumbo cards have double backs. One develops a face, then there are 6 cards, all with faces
- The Know-A-Count: a count to show four cards with backs on both sides, followed by some possible uses
- Pharaoh's Pharo Phooler: a prediction is made and a card is glimpsed by a spectator. Two spectators deal packets of cards. When the first spectator finds the glimpsed card, they both stop. The 2nd spectator's card matches the prediction. Includes Faro shuffle and non-Faro shuffle method.
- Wheeling & Dealing: a prediction is made, and a card is selected and returned. Two more cards are selected. One card matches the selection and the other matches the prediction
- Magicut One: the first of three selection revelation card effects
- Magicut Two: a similar effect that also utilizes key cards
- Magicut Three: a final revelation where the spectator counts to his card
- Inter-Phase: a single card is placed face up in a red backed deck, and a single card is placed face up in a blue backed deck. The cards transpose. This is repeated.
- If Aces Had Faces...: four double backers are printed one at a time as Aces. Quicky using just the Jordon Count.
- Two Steps To the Future Once Removed (based on a Phil Goldstein effect): a spectator makes two selections and can place either selection with one prediction. The other card goes with the other prediction. Both cards match the predictions
- Three On a Match: three spectators deal cards and stop when they please. When all of the cards are checked, the three pairs stopped at match in value and color
- By the Numbers: two spectators count cards, each arriving at the others selection. The two selections are placed face up in a face down deck, the deck is respread and they have changed to a single card that totals their value.
- Four Ploy: Four cards are selected. The Magician names three, and the fourth matches a prediction
- FourFlusher: a trick to perform after you have produced 4 Aces. An indifferent card is passed through the Aces and becomes the selection. The Aces are turned over, and have become a Royal Flush
- Let's Face It: A Universal Card effect. A red-backed Joker takes on the appearance of several different cards before turning back into a Joker
- Spectator Cuts the Aces: a simple version
- April Fooler: APRIL FOOL spells to the selected card. Then the dealt cards are introduced as Mr. & Mrs. Heart, Club, Diamond, and Spade, and turn out to be King and Queen of each suit
- Cards and Weigh: Magician weighs the cards and tells how many are in the packet, then how far down the selection is. Also, a prediction matches the selection
- Ripped Off: a torn and restored card trick using a double lift
- Ripped Off Again: after an ambitious card routine using a signed card, the signed card is put aside. A magic card is shown and held on the table by the spectator. The signed card is torn, and the face flashed to prove it is the signed card. However, it cannot be restored, but turns out to be the magic card. The card held by the spectator is turned over and found to be the signed card
- Multi-Ploy: two cards are selected and total to a number thought of by the spectator. This is repeated several times
- Max Phactor (based on a Phil Goldstein routine): magician and spectator each select a card and they match in value and color
- Roy's Ploy (based on a routine by Roy Walton): Two Kings will be used to find the selection. First they change to look like two indifferent cards, then the selection.
